Orange High School Lockdown Today: Authorities responded to a reported threat Monday morning at Olentangy Orange High School, prompting school officials to initiate heightened security measures as law enforcement investigated the situation.
According to the Olentangy Local School District, multiple high schools within the district, including Olentangy Orange High School, were placed under lockdown or secure status after officials received what investigators later described as possible “swatting” calls.
The incident sparked concern among parents and students after early social media reports claimed there was a possible shooting at the school. However, authorities said there was no confirmed active shooter found on campus during the investigation. The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office responded immediately alongside school administrators to secure the buildings and ensure student safety.
District officials stated that beginning around 8:48 a.m., threatening calls were directed toward three district high schools, including Olentangy Orange High School, Olentangy High School, and Olentangy Berlin High School. In response, administrators activated emergency safety protocols while deputies searched the campuses and surrounding areas.
Students inside the schools were instructed to remain in classrooms while officers investigated the credibility of the threats. Witnesses described seeing a visible police presence near the campuses as concerned parents sought updates online and gathered near the schools.
Authorities later determined the calls were believed to be part of a swatting hoax — false emergency reports intended to trigger large law enforcement responses. By late morning, officials announced that all three schools had been cleared and were returning to normal operations.
School officials emphasized that every threat is treated seriously, regardless of whether it is ultimately determined to be credible. The district said counselors and support staff remained available for students affected by the frightening situation.
The investigation into who made the threatening calls remains ongoing. Authorities have not announced any arrests as of Monday afternoon.
The incident once again highlights growing concerns nationwide over false school threats and swatting incidents that disrupt learning environments and create fear among students, staff, and families.
